Over some 35 years of being in the custom picture framing business, we have collected a vast array of antique picture frames, or "vintage" picture frames that we have collected through our many years of estate liquidation projects. Many are hand-carved. Some have genuine 22 karat gold leaf finishes. Some are unique for other reasons, perhaps made from quality hardwoods like walnut or mahogany. Some may be made from even more exotic woods.
Many have "finished corners", meaning that no miter line is visible at the corners. Some are truly "one-of-a-kind" in their unique styling. In general they range broadly in age from just thirty or forty years old up to over 100 years old. While some can be used to frame pictures or paintings that you may own, others can be used as mirror frames. Still others may be attractive to collectors of hand-made antiquities, and may even have investment value over the long term.
