THOMAS KIMBALL EATON (1901 to 1988)

30831.JPG

A few years after Eaton's death, his family decided to liquidate the contents of Thomas Eaton's studio, and we purchased the entire contents: watercolors, oil paintings, drawings, carvings, handmade prints and much more. Eaton was recognized as an accomplished painter around Boston, and he won numerous awards which validated this. He was the longest (and top) student of prominent Boston art teacher, Robert Henry Logan and in the 1950's, he won one the most prestigious art awards in Boston, The Richard Mitton Award.

Eaton exhibited at The Lexington Arts Society, The Twentieth Century Club, The Copley Society and the Quincy Art Center. His work hangs in the permanent collection of the Weston Historical Society, beside the work of John Joseph Enneking. In the 1930's and 1940's, he was a painting companion of Emile Gruppe (1896 to 1978) and Aldro Hibbard (1886 to 1972) in Gloucester and Rockport, Massachusetts.
The paintings in this collection vary widely in size, subject and medium. We have shown a few pieces here (https://chathamart.com/fine-art/all-paintings/featured-artists/category/240-eaton-thomas-eaton) but there are many more available.
